Servus zusammen. Ich hoffe, dass es mir erlaubt ist, auf Englisch zu schreiben, um die Dinge besser zu klären...

I would like to ask about the security transfer from my Comdirect account to another brokerage account in Germany. Obviously there are same questions in this community and I have read them up, but I still want to ask it in English... I hope it is allowed (and sorry to ask here)

Due to the commission fees, I am thinking to transfer some of my portfolio to my another seccurity account from my Comdiredct account, and would like to ask below points:

1. Fee

As long as I have read through the community posts in German, the fee occurs upon security transfer is 2.38EUR per position, this to be paid to the custodian bank.

So if I want to transfer:

Stock A: 20 shares

Stock B: 50 shares

ETF C: 50 shares

>> The cost is 2.38EUR x 3 = 7.14EUR?

2. How

Simply by filling out the form then send to Comdirect by Post? Where can I find the application form...?

3. Others

The securities I want to transfer should be tradable in the other account. Check the WKN and it it appears in the other... then ok to transfer. It would take few days so better avoid volatile market season, before/after the earning etc

I will stay using Comdirect for sure for saving plan etc! Some other trading account offers indeed lower commission fee but their trading system went down when so many people accessed.. just like few days ago!

Hi @Ask1991,

for fees: Generally, transfers are free of costs. Comdirect sometimes bills the Clearstream fees. I doubt anyone has already figured out when those are actually due, because sometimes they are and sometimes they are not *shrug*.

for the how: Most of the times, the receiving bank provides you with the necessary form, sometimes even with an online process. I'd suggest to look there first.

(In case you don't find it at the destination bank. @Necoro is right that there are some banks that have an online form installed for the transfer process which is much simpler than using snail mail.)

Thank you for your information. I have sent the application paper to Commdirect right after seeing this post but its been silent and almost 6 weeks!

If you could tell me how I can check the status, would be really appreciated! By chat support etc?

@Ask1991 you can ask the comdirect support hotline. They are available 24/7 so feel free to call.

Another way is to ask per mail.

But: normally you assign your other bank, the receiving bank, to get the transfer done.

So if you want to transfer shares from bank account A to bank account B, you assing bank B to get your shares from bank A. They then contact the giving bank (A) and get the transfer done. So if there are complications you have to ask bank B.

It COULD be that comdirect didn't do a thing because they aren't the receiving bank. Just an assumption of myself. Could also be that they are pretty busy because everyone wants their shares to be transfered due to the year to end and tax optimiziation.

You have to ask the support, that's all you can do.

@Zilch Thank you very much! The receiving bank just has an application paper which I had to fill out by myself and send to Comdirect (transferring from) by post.

I guess they are slow, will contact them by emial or live chat... my German speaking is poor.. thank you

Old school receiving bank, hm? 😄 If you ever transfer to comdirect be happy, they have an online tool. Works well.

Normally your receiving bank is in charge of getting it done.

Try an e-mail in English if your German is poor. Normally they should be able to understand it and help.

You also may ask for a translation here so you just need to copy and fill in personal info. Just if nothing works before you use a very bad translation tool for it.
